robert ryan exhibition..
Yesterday we went to the Robert Ryan exhibition and I was completely blown away by his beautiful paper cut works. They are so intricate, standing in front of one you can't help but be moved by them,such thoughtful words and stunning images. If I had £2000 I would've purchase the one above on the left....but instead we bought a mug and a printed tile - just as lovely.

snow....
Took this photo today on a walk through the fields. England does suit a bit of snow. Pretty hey. Poor moo-cows didn't know what had hit them....brrr.

Use Less Plastic...
Found this on the Do Village website. Having just returned from Cornwall
I was shocked to see how much plastic waste washes up on the shore in the UK.

yum...
Just made Nigel Slaters Quick Korma....should have taken a photo, next time. Anyhoo it's super yummy and easy. Here's the recipe. We made the mushroom version but you can make it with meat if you want. Make it, so good. I've never made a 'Nigel' but I'm really impressed with this one and last night we had the chilli feta quick supper which was also really yummy. Go get cooking.

happiness is bags, lots of bags...
Fanny Bostrom is a very tallented artist from New York married to the very tallented photographer behind Backyard Bill. Too cool. Anyhow she has just released a collection of handmade accessories called Folki which means people in Gypsy. Too too cool. Read all about it here.
Oh and by the way that's one of her bags, modelled by FannyB herself.

No surf but still a beautiful day for a beach walk, soaking up some
of that famous Cornish golden light.
Loving the 'shake-it' polaroid App.

a beautiful poem....
The Men Who Don’t Fit In – Robert W. Service
There’s a race of men that don’t fit in,
A race that can’t stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood,
And they climb the mountain’s crest;
Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,
And they don’t know how to rest.
A race that can’t stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood,
And they climb the mountain’s crest;
Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,
And they don’t know how to rest.
If they just went straight they might go far;
They are strong and brave and true;
But they’re always tired of the things that are,
And they want the strange and new.
They say: “Could I find my proper groove,
What a deep mark I would make!”
So they chop and change, and each fresh move
Is only a fresh mistake.
They are strong and brave and true;
But they’re always tired of the things that are,
And they want the strange and new.
They say: “Could I find my proper groove,
What a deep mark I would make!”
So they chop and change, and each fresh move
Is only a fresh mistake.
And each forgets, as he strips and runs
With a brilliant, fitful pace,
It’s the steady, quiet, plodding ones
Who win in the lifelong race.
And each forgets that his youth has fled,
Forgets that his prime is past,
Till he stands one day, with a hope that’s dead,
In the glare of the truth at last.
With a brilliant, fitful pace,
It’s the steady, quiet, plodding ones
Who win in the lifelong race.
And each forgets that his youth has fled,
Forgets that his prime is past,
Till he stands one day, with a hope that’s dead,
In the glare of the truth at last.
He has failed, he has failed; he has missed his chance;
He has just done things by half.
Life’s been a jolly good joke on him,
And now is the time to laugh.
Ha, ha! He is one of the Legion Lost;
He was never meant to win;
He’s a rolling stone, and it’s bred in the bone;
He’s a man who won’t fit in.
He has just done things by half.
Life’s been a jolly good joke on him,
And now is the time to laugh.
Ha, ha! He is one of the Legion Lost;
He was never meant to win;
He’s a rolling stone, and it’s bred in the bone;
He’s a man who won’t fit in.

Hello
Won these from the local auction house, plus a whole lot of other stuff that we really didn't need but once we saw these little beauties we had to buy the 'lot' which included some huge mixing bowls and lots of other stuff. By the way they're salt and pepper shakers, cute hey.
